Is it too late to start taking golf lessons in Sept?

Would it be better to start lessons in Sept and most likely stop by Oct due to weather (live in Colorado)? Or would it be better to start golf lessons say next april-may? This would be for a brand new golfer (my wife).

i think that the more you practice the better….start lessons now and then continue in april and may.

I think it would actually be of benefit to start now. Stay on the driving range, take plenty of lessons, keep off the course until next Spring. Lee Trevino was of the opinion that a beginner should spend at least a year on the driving range, learning to swing and hit the ball, before they were let loose on a golf course. I’m not inclined to disagree with him.

Okay, so spending the next few months on the range may seem a little tedious, but it ought to pay dividends in the long run. Practising on the range also takes away the pressure of having to play to a target, so you can concentrate on striking the ball correctly.

I don’t think it’s ever too late to take lessons. For a beginner, she can learn some of the core fundamentals: grip, address, alignment etc. And with winter coming up she can still work on grip, alignment and putting indoors.
