The best ball striking exercise a golfer can practise. WHY? It really starts to pacify the destructive use of the arms and shoulders as a power source whilst at the same time redirecting and channelling this wasted energy down through the wrists and finally into the clubhead. The exercise condenses the hand and wrist movement of a full swing but into a short body turn and is therefore so much easier to train than in a full swing. We are talking here about that snap at the bottom of the swing that all good players possess but all golfers can build into their swings.
SWINGBUILD GOLF – Half Swing

This is by far the best golf instruction on the internet. I´ve been having all kinds of problems and so many swing thoughts that it wouldn´t fit in a 500 page book. These swingbuild drills eliminated my old swing thoughts and one of the most notable thing was that I was hitting all the balls on the sweetspot, dead solid and the hitting area was like a dime. My 8 iron half swings were flying the ball more than 100 yards and I´m a short hitter, wow. Thanks for your help.
Ben Hogan placed great emphasis on keeping the arms together – in his book, he even uses the words ‘clamped’ and ‘glued’ with reference to the compactness of the top of the arms to the chest. This was part of the training process – which every golfer should go through. Once you have trained your body – you can then forget about it as it will happen naturally. This was Ben Hogan’s real secret – connection – which equals control. Will explain in greater detail on my website. David Blair
I think its important to recognise that Mr Hogan was not totally orthodox as a golfer, so, studying Mr Hogan in minute detail pays no particular dividend if you intent to apply the same movement to your own swing. Thats my opinion anyway. However, I have actually performed this exercise with a large elasticated band holding my upper arms to my torso. I couldn’t quite make a full swing, but the freedom in the wrists actually produced ‘full’ distance with that 3/4 shot! The proof’s in the pudding!
David great stuff- just one question, In Hogan’s five fundamentals there is a picture with the close arms tied together, however Jim McClean said Hogan never really had his arms that tight together and showed this through video(maybe he felt the triangle was narrow and close) what are your thoughts on that. Thanks again!
I will be sending links to my beginner friends, so much better than all the complicated stuff that they are being taught. I like the way that Mike lists all the things that DON’T move and concentrate on the turn and wrist action.
5 years ago, before I bought David’s DVD, I used to hit a wedge 110 and needed a sports massage after every round! Now I hit a wedge 115-120 with virtually no effort from the upper body, no tight muscles or soreness after a visit to the range……………Cheers David!
Great video…….keep them coming. Thanks.
Such a smooth operator – makes for a fantastic teacher. I love your lessons. Thank you so much
Simply the best explanation of a golf swing that I have seen and I’m passing it on to my golfing friends.
I’m off now to the range to groove the swing!
Excellent

The best of the swingbuild drills. Grab yourself some clubhead speed! Nice one David.
as a beginner since about two 1/2 months i was stuggeling to get a feeling for the momentum of the club. and this wristaction for me is the answer. until now i believe my swing only came out of the hips and also the shoulders including all of this following problems show off here. now i´m very curiuos to try this at the range – but already now, just by trying this at home i can say the using of the wrists like described gives me the connection to momentum i was looking for. great vids, thanks.
